BEST Special X is a dark caramel malt that has been briefly roasted: it straddles the line between caramel and roasted malts.
It gives beer a chestnut-red to brown colour and notes of dried fruit and chocolate, without pronounced roasted bitterness. Even a small share supports the body of darker beers.
Makes up to 20% of the grist. For Alt, Bock, Schwarzbier, Belgian abbey beers, dark Ales, Porter and Stout.
