Filter diatomaceous earth F 50 is a coarser grade of diatomaceous earth for precoat filtration of beer.
Diatomaceous earth (the silica shells of diatoms) forms a permeable layer on the filter that captures yeast and trub; the coarser grade gives a fast flow rate for basic filtration.
